Top Note Quilt

Good Monday Morning! The crisp cool air this morning says Fall is here for sure, I love to take morning walks and this morning was super pleasant for that. Today's project was made using up some scraps from various Christmas papers, some of which are retired. I first glued 1x1 squares to a piece of card stock and then ran it through the Big shot with the Top Note die. The sentiment is from the stamp set, Holiday best. Thanks for stopping by, enjoy your Monday.

Fall is in the Air

Hi, hope you are having a wonderful weekend. I am, I started out Friday by having a blast at a workshop in Mt. Vernon. All I have to say about this group of ladies is that you girls sure know how to throw a party, I am still laughing at some of the jokes especially the ones Claire told. I am so glad I got to meet all of you and look forward to the next workshop! Then on Saturday I had a Holiday Mini preview at my home with another group of wonderful ladies. I appreciate all the orders and will be placing them on September 1.
On to the card, this card was inspired by one done by Dawn Easton, of course I had to make it my own and change it up a bit. I used some retired DP along with Pumpkin Pie and Bashful Blue card stock. The tree is from Branch Out and I used So Saffron, Bashful Blue, Pumpkin Pie, and Real Red inks. Don't forget the Holiday Mini will be available onSeptember 1 and I will be placing an order then. If you need something, let me know.

Happy Bearthday

I love the Build a Bear(BAB) stamps and dies in the Holiday Mini catalog. I did a card and gift bag for Sadie's sweet friend Avah but forgot to take a picture. This one is for a little boy who is turning 3, he has a little stuffed bear that he has carried around forever and his mom says she is "retiring" his "Bubby" so I made him this card. I also made a gift bag using the die cut which I will show you later. SU also has DP called Pawsitively Prints which is what I used here and it is great for the clothes for the die cuts.

Enjoy every bite!

Today I a am sharing a cute little treat box I made with the Sizzix #2 box die. I also used a stamp set and Designer Paper which will be available to order from the Holiday Mini catalog on September 1. The stamp set is Twick or Tweet ans the DP is Night & Day Specialty. I also used a Martha Stewart punch for the green goo. I will probably make this in multiples since Sadie & Shelby both have October birthdays and want to go with a Halloween theme this year. The fact that they are so easy to make will be a big plus, they only use a small piece of sticky tape and then just fold together, easy peasy!

On Dasher!

I love this stamp, and you will probably see it here quite a bit. The DP is from last year, I figured I need to use it up first. I am having a Christmas Stamp a Stack once a month through December and this is one of the cards for September. If you live close enough to come contact me for the dates, but if you don't live near all the cards will be offered as kits! Thanks for stopping by.

Eat, Drink, and be Scary

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend! Have you tried the Technique Spotlight on Splitcoast Stampers? This one is the wiper card and it is so cute. It is a little challenging but who doesn't love a good challenge. This gorgeous paper is the Night & Day Specialty paper from the Holiday Mini which will be available Sept. 1. The stamp set is Eat, Drink, and be Scary. The little pop up pumpkin is a Sizzix die which I have had for a very long time but use every year. It is a little hard to photograph as is any pop up but is very cute IRL.

I'm so sorry

This is a sympathy card I made for the office staff of my eye doctor who passed away a few weeks ago. The secretary there has called a few times to let me know they are trying to re-organize and get all his patients taken care of by the other doctor who works in the office and I can tell they are very shaken by his death so I thought a card and maybe some cookies would be a nice gesture. I used the Inspired by Nature stamp along with a sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes. Thanks for stopping by.
ps...I am caught up on all the orders for my Kit of the Month, I really got behind while on vacation so I worked on those all day yesterday and mailed them today. Thanks to all who ordered. Also, I have submitted the orders for Janet and Teresa and will let you know as soon as SU ships them so you can tract them for a delivery date...thanks girls, I appreciate your orders!

Just For You

This is a card I made a while back but never got around to posting it. The DP is retired, it was from the Baja Blue papers from the catalog. The stamp is is Branch Out which is current and I like that you can make your tree fit any season simply by using seasonal colors. We are on the wind down side of summer with school starting tomorrow but the days have been perfect here, not too hot with lots of puffy clouds to enjoy.

We decided sort of spur of the moment on Friday to take another short trip before the girls head back to school so we went to Nashville, TN. We stayed at the Opryland Hotel. If you have never been there, I highly recommend it. It is a bit pricey but well worth it. The rooms have a balcony that open out to an enclosed dome which is climate controlled. This was the view from our balcony. We left our balcony doors open at night to the sound of the water rushing over this falls which was so relaxing.

Every where you look is lush greenery, ponds, fountains, and even a river that you can take a short boat ride on. The restaurants were wonderful and they have shows at the Ryman Auditorium or the Grand Old Opry, we didn't go to any of the shows because we didn't think the girls would enjoy them. They offer a shuttle service to about anywhere in Nashville, we took it to Opry Mills and did some shopping and of course the Rain Forest Cafe and the Aquarium Restaurant are a must if you have children.

This is a picture of some of the walkways throughtout which offer spectacular views of the fountains and ponds on the level below. We are going back, for sure in winter when we will appreciate all the tropical flowers they have growing. My husband's sister lives 15 minutes from Opryland so we got to visit with her and go to church with her on Sunday. Now, it is time to get back to business, so I should be posting more regularly.

Oh Christmas Tree

I love this new Sizzix die which can only be had through Stampin Up! It is a bit of a challenge the first time you make it but the good thing about Stampin Up is that they give you a video to refer to which really helps. The challenge of making it is well worth the end product which is even better IRL. A sizzlit is also available to cut the star, a bulb, an ornament, and a circle. I also had some tiny bulbs which I found at Walmart on clearance last year which fit perfectly on the tree but I didn't get them in the photograph. It was also a bit of a challenge to photograph for me but of course most things involving photography challenge me. I cut a scallop circle to use as a tree skirt and actually attached the tree to it to make it more stable. The tree can also be mounted inside a card which I will attempt next. I am also going to make another one and us some DP or stamp on cardstock and see how this turns out. I hope you like my tree and if you are interested in ordering one they will, be available September 1.

Friends 24/7

Murphy's law has been with me for the past several days. Most of the time when I miss a day posting, it is because I have not had time to stamp. Well for the past week, I haven't had much time but have managed to stamp something everyday but technical problems have kept me from posting, first I lost my camera battery charger and then Blogger had issues and nothing I did helped and then today it was working!
This is a card using the stamp set Friends 24/7 which I really like but don't use near enough. I used Rich Razzleberry for the base, the DP is Cottage Wall, and the Old Olive is embossed. The flowers were not in my original plan, I was going to use ribbon to go between the layers but attached them before adding the ribbon. So I added the flowers instead and I kinda like them.

Beach Pictures

I did get a chance to stamp today between laundry, grocery shopping, and taking my husband to a doctors appointment. I seemed to have lost my camera battery charger so I can't show you anything I did. One of the cards I made was a sympathy card. I had an eye doctor appointment at 8:30 this morning and was getting ready to go to it when his office called to say that he had passed away during the night so I made a card to send to his office staff. He was only 55 years old, only 2 years older than me so that has bothered me all day. This is a picture of me, my handsome husband, and handsome grandson.

These are my two sweet girls, Sadie and Shelby. They are growing up way too fast. In October they will be 6 and 11 and my Sadie goes to kindergarten in two weeks. It will be a very sad day at my house because she is our last one to go to school, I know I will cry that day and I know Toy will laugh at me for crying.
These are my 3 older children... Chad, Seth, and Heather. It seems like only yesterday I was sending them off to kindergarten.

Family

Wow, what a vacation! I think this last 10 days have been the best vacation we have ever taken, and it wasn't anything we saw or any one thing we did, but simply time spent together as a family. We went to Daytona Beach and stayed in a beautiful condo(very large one to accommodate the ten of us). I took the girls to Disney World for two days but other than that our time was spent on the beach or in the condo. It has been a long time since we all sat down to eat dinner together or played a silly board game together or watched a funny movie together and it felt so good to do these things. I made it a point to spend some time alone with each child as well and had some very good conversations as we walked on the beach or sat on the balcony and watched dolphins play. We had a photographer come to the beach and take some family pictures which I will share over the next few days. I don't have a project to share today because I have laundry and unpacking to do.
ps. from left to right in the photo is Chad, our oldest son, Seth holding our grandson Dalton , Danielle, Mark our adopted son, Toy my husband, Sadie our youngest daughter, me, Shelby our middle daughter, and Heather our oldest daughter. You can click on the photo to enlarge it, just don't look too close at my wrinkles!

Beach Fun

Good morning from Daytona Beach, Florida. We are having a wonderful time just relaxing and resting at the beach. There are ten of us here and I have no worries about anything, all the kids are with me so what is there to worry about. Tomorrow we will go to Disney World for two days and then back to the beach for two more days. I scheduled a few posts but not enough to get through until we return and then it will be back to business.

I got to pre-order from the Holiday Mini so I will have lots of new stuff to play with when I return.

Tree Trimmings

Ok, one more Christmas project and I will move on to something else. For this card I used the stamp set, Tree Trimmings and the pinecones from the set, Autumn Harvest. The base of the card is Real Red layered with Bermuda Bay, I really like these two colors together. I made the other Bermuda Bay piece with the eyelet border punch, I was surprised how well it worked especially when turning corners. Thanks for stopping by.

Notecards for Melody

I have started a few Christmas gifts, this is for my sister Melody. They are 4x4 notecards and I am working on a box for them which I will show you later. I used Rich Razzleberry for the base layered with Old Olive. The DP is Cottage Wall. The alphabet is Lovely Letters and the best part is I got it for "free" through SU for having a certain amount in sales consistently for a quarter. Free is always good because I needed an alphabet set.

Merry Christmas

First off, let me apologize for the photo, a photographer I am not. I want to take some classes but don't see fitting it in any time soon. I do love how this card turned out and it is similar to one I saw somewhere but cannot find it again to give credit to whoever, if you have seen it let me know so I can edit this post. I think my favorite stamp set right now is the Cardinal Christmas, I know the Christmas cards I send this year will involve this set! I used the Finial Press embossing folder from SU on the background but when I glued it , I put the glue on the wrong side so it is debossed but I kinda liked it so I left it. The cardinal is stamped in Creamy Caramel onto Very Vanilla. The frame is in Chocolate Chip. The sentiment if from the set, Holiday Best which is a Level 1 hostess. The ribbon is Chocolate Chip 1 1/4 inch striped grosgrain. Thanks for stopping by.
