Sneak Peek!
Update on Spider Bite
Thanks to all who sent messages yesterday concerning my daughter, Heather. We really appreciate all the prayers. There were several questions so I will answer them here as well as through emails. Recluse Spiders inject a poison that decays the tissue around the site. The poison last for seven days and it can't be stopped, there is no anti venom for it. There is a genetic inclination for a person to be bitten(my mother was bitten years ago so my daughter inherited the gene from her). All that can be done for the seven days that it is active is steroid and antibiotic treatment. After the seven days, surgery is almost always required to fix the area affected. My mom had to have silicone injected into the hole and then skin grafts over it. I am cleaning the site and removing some of the tissue each day and then redressing it. We are on day 6 of the 7 and the wound looked only a little bit bigger today, it is probably about 2 1/2 inches wide at this point but is very deep. Another concern is where it is. it is over the hip joint and she is very tiny so we don't want it to reach the hip joint. Your continued prayers are greatly appreciated.

To Have and to Hold...
On a brighter note, I want to share a photo of my Sadie from a musical she was in at church last night.
It was adorable, they all did an awesome job. She sang two solos. There is an older couple from our church who have no grandchildren in this area and they always come to see her. They told me last night that they love to watch her because she enjoys doing it and that she doesn't stop smiling the whole performance. I paid closer attention last night and they were right, you could the joy in her face.

Happy Mother's Day
Good morning! Today I have a couple Mother's Day cards to share with the same layout but the dresses are a little different. Playing with the All Dressed Up die is like playing Fashion designer, I have seen so may cute dresses made with it. Thanks for stopping by, hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Teacher Appreciation Day 5
Good morning! Today I have a very quick CAS card for you. There is very little stamping since the focal point is cut from DSP. I am sure going to miss the Storytime DSP but am hoping for a new favorite from the new catalog. Thanks for stopping by!

Teacher Appreciation Day 4
Good morning! Today's project is a little green house planter, it has a soil disc and a packet of basil seeds. I found these at the Target Dollar Spot and bought several to do with my kids but they can also be great inexpensive ways to say thank you to a teacher. I printed the tag out with MDS and layered it on a mat and added a few stars from a retired Simply Scrappin kit. Thanks for stopping by!
ps.....I am not going to place an order on this Friday since the retired list just came out and a few folks have asked me to wait until Monday so they can order. The only drawback is that some of these items are in short supply so they could be sold out. Let me know if you want to order early and not be in the drawing for the hostess benefits.

Retired List
It is here! The retired list is available, just click here to see the stamps or here to see the accessory list. There are some things on the accessory list discounted up to 60%. I will be placing an order on Friday and will draw for a hostess, any amount gets you in the drawing. thanks for stopping by!
Mr. Owl
Good morning! I decided to pull out some more of the brads I have been collecting and put them to use and since I am doing teacher appreciation this week and already had the owl punch out I did another owl card. I was inspired by this card. The glasses and the mustache are both brads, perfect for a male teacher. The DSP is from the Storytime collection and the paper clip is from the Cute Clips available in the Spring catalog. Thanks for stopping by!

Pure Gumption
Good morning! Yesterday I was putting away some leftovers from my recent punch class and remembered some brads I had bought. The little stethoscope and nurses hat were perfect for the nurse owl as a graduation card. I used a sentiment from the Pure Gumption stamp set. Thanks for stopping by!

An Apple for the Teacher
Good morning! Today I have a shaped card made from a die cut. I am concentrating on teacher appreciation and graduation this week. This school year has flown by, it is hard to believe it is almost over and that I will have one in high school when school starts back.
Here is the inside of the card. Thanks for stopping by!

VBS
Good morning! I did the craft portion of our Association VBS clinic last night at church, I enjoyed doing it but I am so glad it is over. It is a lot of work but it gets me motivated to get ready for the actual VBS. I found out the day before the clinic that I wouldn't be allowed to hang anything on the walls since they had just been painted so I had to improvise. I had intended to hang the rosettes on the wall under the canopy but instead just hung them from the ceiling in front of the display.
I always have a photo booth which the kids love, one year I dressed them up like the Statue of Liberty. This year I am using mustaches on a stick, funny glasses and headband boppers.
This table had a few decorations. I put the "Dare" for each day on the popcorn bags, this helps the kids to remeber and also helps me to remind them of the highpoints of the story which they get in their classroom.

Happy Spring
Good afternoon! Today I have another project from my Big shot Layaway class. For this one we used a magnet sheet to cut out a large circle for the back of the flower and then the flower was cut with the Flower Folds die. the center of this die leaves an octagon shaped score so we cut the center with a piece of Polkadot Parade DSP and then trimmed it up to fit in the center. The little banner was cut with the Itty Bitty Banners dies. thanks for stopping by1

Good morning! Today's project is from my Big Shot Layaway class, just one more month and you get to take them home! We are cutting all the different things that can be cut in the BS and this is aluminum from a soda can. We also flattened bottle caps, and cut magnet sheets in this class. Thanks for stopping by!

Teacher Thank You
Good evening! I hope your weekend has been enjoyable. We have had a beautiful Spring weekend here in Southern Illinois and have packed it full of family fun. Today's card is one I made to go along with the paint can from yesterday. I used the stamps from Greeting Card Kids and Story Time DSP. The apple was cut with a die from the Perfectly Preserved collection. Thanks for stopping by!

Teacher Appreciation
Good afternoon! It's time to start making teacher appreciation gifts as the school year is winding down. I love decorating paint cans and filling them an assortment of goodies. For this one I used Storytime DSP , a cute tag, and some ribbon.
Here is what the top and the tag looks like. Hope Sadie's teacher likes it. Thanks for stopping by!

Two by Two
Good morning! Today I have a couple baby cards to share, there must be a lot of babies being born this year. I can't keep up with making them, I sell them as soon as they are made. I used some leftover pieces from previous cards so these went together really fast. This cute image called Two by Two is so much fun to color.
The two colors from the retiring list that I wish were staying are Pretty in Pink and Bashful Blue which are the two I use the most for baby cards. I will be stocking up on these colors and if they are your favorites you can order them here, or send me an email at dls8383@gmail.com . thanks for stopping by!Wednesday, April 10, 2013
Epic Day
Good morning! Today's project is a birthday card using the This and That Epic Day DSP. When I got my paper, I thought it had a masculine appeal and wasn't sure if I really liked it. So, I challenged myself to use it for a feminine card and .....I love how it turned out! I used the Delicate Doilies Sizzlit die and the Elegant Butterfly along with some 5/8 inch Flower Trim. I sure hope the Flower Trim is a carryover item when the Spring Catalog expires. The doilies were cut in Calyspso Coral and the mat is Pool Party card stock. I am happy that both of these colors are staying around for a while. Thanks for stopping by!

VBS
Good afternoon! I am working on VBS this week, I will be teaching the crafts segment at the Saline Baptist Association clinic next week. I don't have to actually prepare enough for the kids but I do have to make all the crafts and decorations that will be used whenever VBS actually starts in the summer. The theme this year is Colossal Coaster World, Facing Fear, Trusting God and is centered around an amusement park. The good part about it is that for the Craft Emporium, they suggest you use lots of colorful things like paper, markers, ect and display them like it is a little shop. Well...I have all that! I made this little jar tag with the Labels Framelit die and used the memory verse. I love these trendy colorful paper straws so I added them to my jar. I'll take lots of pictures of how it looks once I set it up for the class. Thanks for stopping by!

Bugs and Kisses
Good morning! I hate to admit it but I am glad Spring Break is over, it has been nonstop for 10 days. We have shopped, swam, played at the park, shopped some more, danced, bowled, been to the movies, shopped more, been to a Scrap book convention, been to American Girl, shopped even more, ....not only am I tired but I am broke! Today I am sharing two of the party favors I made to go along with the invitation I showed you last week for a Bug Birthday party.
This one was cut with the Bitty Box and Envelope die. I just chose to not make it into a closed box. The sentiment is from Bugs and Kisses ( some of the items I use are retired, but I can't see getting rid of them).

American Girl
St. Louis. I told Sadie that she could buy a miniature doll until we got there and then I surprised her by letting her buy a big doll. She chose Saige who is the girl of the year and enjoys horse back riding. Not only does Sadie look like Saige but she has a horse too. She was one happy little girl!

Teacher Appreciation
Good morning! I finally found time to play with the Pop 'n Cuts dress form and Card Base dies from the Spring Catalog. I cased this card from Fran Sabad, I love it! It took a couple hours to make this card, mostly because of it being the first time I used these dies but it was well worth it. Sadie's teacher is retiring at the end of this school year so this card is going to be for hwer. I used the Storytime DSP and chose the page with lines so that Sadie can write her a note on it. Thanks for stopping by!

Free Shipping!!!!
Stampin' Up! announced today that they will be giving FREE shipping on all orders April 6-8! They also announced a Color Refresh. Some of the core colors are retiring and some of the past In colors are coming back. So, if any of your favorites are retiring now while shipping is free would be a good time to order them. Here is a list of the changes, I know it is hard to see but you can double click on the photo to enlarge it or go to the Stampin' Up! website to check them out.
Bug Party
Good evening! The kids and I have been gone all day having some Spring Break fun at an indoor water park, Big Splash. They had a ball and all three of them slept most of the 2 1/2 hour drive home. Today's project is an invitation I made for a little girls birthday party. She loves bugs and she loves purple so she was pleased with it. I made favors too and I will show them to you soon.
Sadie and Dalton waiting for the BIG bucket to fill and dump the water on their heads.
I think the lazy river was the favorite for all three of them. It has a lot of splashing surprises all the way.

Wedding Day
Good afternoon! I had to take a break from taxes(hopefully I will make the tax deadline) and work on something else. I don't keep the best records so I am having to go back through a lot of bank records and such to pull it all together. A friend asked me to make her wedding invitations and favors so I made up a few samples and sent them to her. This one was made with the All Dressed Up die. They have a two year old so she wanted a favor using bubbles and this sentiment from Wishes your Way is perfect.
I also made favors for the reception using the Petal Cone die and the Scalloped Heart of Hearts embosslit.

Spring!
Good morning! I have a card to share that is part of my Technique classes for this month. We are doing various sponging techniques, this one is also an emboss resist technique. I embossed the tree by first stamping in Versamark and then in Early Espresso and then heating it. The leaves were stamped in Versamark and then covered with Wild Wasabi embossing powder. Then I sponged with various "sunset" shades to create the background. Thanks for stopping by!
ps...just noticed I took the photo before I added a couple little butterflies to my card...
