Picnic

This stamp set brought back some  very good memories from my childhood.  There was an older lady, named Rada Day who lived in our community who had only boys but had always wanted a girl, she was also our mail carrier.  My sister and I used to wait by the road for her to drop off the mail each day so we got to know her.  We grew up in Eastern Kentucky and we had very little opportunity to do anything "extra".  Rada  would drop off boxes of magazines at our mailbox when she was through reading them or she would put fresh peaches or apples in our mailbox sometimes.  We loved it and when she asked our Dad if we could come to her house for a sleepover, you would of thought we were heading to Disney World we were so excited.  She had big plans too... we had a picnic on the veranda wearing fancy hats, painted pictures, cut flowers from her garden and had a lesson on flower arranging, and cooked a big meal which we  ate on her "fancy china".  Rada has been gone for a long time but I will never forget her.
