Hope Happens

Good afternoon. Hope you are having a relaxed weekend. First off let me say that the photo doesn't do this one justice, it is very pretty IRL but I have a hard time photographing mostly white cards. The inspiration for this card comes from this card posted by Mary Fish. I used several embossing folders and punched out 1 1/4 inch squares to form the grid and the used the Heart of Hearts embosslit for the heart. The white trim at the bottom was made using the Tasteful Trim die.  The sentiment is from the stamp set  Hope Happens I really like how this one turned out, I made this card in preparation for a fundraiser for American Cancer Society with an emphasis on Breast Cancer.  This will be the second year for The Pink Event and last year I didn't really know what kind of cards to make and although I had  several "pink" cards, they were gone the first hour.  Thanks for stopping by!

Good afternoon! Today is the day ...Sale-a-Bration starts...I have been waiting anxiously for it. In case you don't know what I am talking about, SAB is a HUGE deal, you get a free item from the SAB brochure for every $50.00 you spend. Not only do they have 6 items which includes stamps, paper, ribbon, buttons, home decor, and digital images of all the things mentioned previously, on the last page  of the brochure are a BUNCH of other stamp sets from the regular catalog. Now is the time to replenish your consumable things such as paper and embellishments and get free STUFF!

Ok, I do have a project for today. This is one of the cards we will be making at a Birthday class next month. The whole class will be centered around the stamp set Bring on the Cake but we will make some cards for adults and some for kids. I made the banner with the party hats from the stamp set Party Hearty. The paper is from the Celebrations DSP.  Thanks for stopping by.

L-O-V-E

Good morning! It's all about love, my craft room is littered with scraps of pink and red. I have been busy prepping for my Hugs and Kisses Valentine class. This card was made for a sketch challenge, I really like this sketch and will be using it again. I used Very Vanilla for the base, added a layer of embossed Pretty in Pink followed by the middle panel of Very Vanilla and a layer of some retired DSP. The stamps are from Filled with Love. I cut the embossed heart with the Hearts of Hearts embosslit.  Head on over to the Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge Blog and check out all the amazing cards using this sketch.  Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Hugs and Kisses Valentine Class

Good morning!  We are getting snow today, maybe 6-7 inches!  Sure makes the girls happy, no school and playing in snow.  Tomorrow I have a Valentine class scheduled and wanted to give you a sneak peek of what we will be making. If you live in my area and would like to attend, please let me know(I will also offer the same class on Sat. Jan. 29.   This is a heart pouch that I made using the Petal cone die.  You get a crease line down the middle of the heart when you cut it so that you can fold it into the cone, but if you don't crease it and attach two of the die cuts together you can make a pouch.  Isn't that cool!  This really holds quite a bit of loot, I put in 3 miniature candy bars and 8 candy kisses.  I stamped the tag using the cute Greeting Card Kids stamp and attached it to the bow with a safety pin from the Vintage Trinkets.  Do you like my pretty bow, I tied this with a Bow Maker that Lynn Pratt is selling to raise money for Juvenile Diabetes research.  you can check out her blog here for the information.  I have bought bow makers before but could never figure out how to use them but with Lynn's directions I was successful the first attempt.  Thanks for stopping by!

Welcome Little One

Good  morning!  The girls are back to school today and it's laundry day for me so not much time for crafting but I do have a baby  card I made yesterday.  We made a very similar card at my Technique class on Saturday and I had a few leftovers so this is what I made.  The base layer is Pink Pirouette followed by a layer of card stock vellum embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper folder.  The doily is embellished with little hearts(thanks for the idea, Sharon) and pearls and the center has a 2 1/2 circle punched from embossed Whisper White and a crocheted flower from the retired Pretties Kit.   I made this for a friend  from Alabama who is adopting a baby girl!

Guest Designers

Good Monday morning!  Today I have two guest designers, Sadie and Shelby, my daughters.  Sadie is 7 and Shelby is 12 and they love to stamp.  They both have birthday parties to go to so yesterday they got busy making cards.  I had found this Penny Black stamp and bought it because it reminded me of them, Sadie has beautiful long blond hair and is a little Diva and Shelby has beautiful thick brown hair and is totally out of her zone in a dress but give her a comfortable pair of jeans(designer of course) and she is good.  They used copics to color the images and Tempting Turquoise card stock along with Island Oasis DP.  The peace sign and groovy stamps are from a retired SU set from 2001 but I don't know the name of it.   If you like their cards, let them know by leaving them a comment.

With Deepest Sympathy

Good afternoon! Sympathy cards are the hardest for me to make, especially if I don't have one on hand when I need one. I guess it is because you just never know what to say to someone who has suffered a loss. This stamp is from the the same set as yesterdays card, Thanks for Caring. The card stock colors are Early Espresso and Very Vanilla and the DP is from the Neutrals patterned package.  Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks for Caring

Good afternoon! Today's card was made using the stamp set Thanks for Caring from the Occasions Mini. I am trying to use up some retired DP and I have no idea the name of this one but it was pink so I went for it. I am participating in The Pink Event(a Cancer Research event) again this year so I am "thinking pink" these days.  I will post more information about the event as soon as I know more, so far all I know is that it is in March. Thanks for stopping by!

Love

Brrrr, it is cold outside. The kids are home from school today because of snow so my time for crafting is very limited. This is a quick and easy card which I think has a masculine look to it.   I used the stamp set XOXO and some Love Letter DSP. The heat is cut out with the Heart of Heats die. The card stock colors are Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, and Very Vanilla. thanks for stopping by.

Love You

Hope you had a wonderful weekend. Lots going on over the weekend at our house, Shelby's basketball team was host in a tournament which they won and Sadie had her first basketball game of the season and first as Dad for the coach and I had two days of Open House. So we were all very tired and I heard no complaints last night when I announced bedtime a little earlier than usual. Today's card uses all rub ons for the images which are from the Occasions Mini and are called Love Impressions. I cut the middle balloon out and added a dimensional but it is hard to tell from the photo. I also used the Framed Tulips embossing folder. Hope you like it, I have a mountain of laundry waiting on me.

oh, I almost forgot...then winners of the gift certificates were Sharon and Paula...happy shopping girls!

In My Thoughts

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend! Today I have a card made from the Nature Walk stamp set. I love birds and this image is what caught my attention when I saw this set in the Occasions Mini. My card stock colors are Always Artichoke, Crumb Cake, and Very Vanilla. I used the Framed Tulips embossing folder on the Crumb Cake layer and added a sentiment from Hodgepodge Happiness to a Crumb Cake Designer Big button. To finish it off, a ribbon from Crumb Cake Seam binding. I really like how this CAS card turned out. Thanks for stopping by1

Petal Cone Treat

Good afternoon! I have had an enjoyable day, stamping with friends and I get to do it again tomorrow for my Occasions Mini Open House. I am in full Valentine mode now and this Petal Cone die is perfect for Valentine treats. You can choose to leave it open at the top as the one shown here or you can fold the scallops over the top and close it. This is done in Melon Mambo, do you see that yummy Melon Mambo pompom trim. I wan't sure if I wanted it when I saw it in the catalog so I only ordered one color, but I will for sure order the other two colors now. The die also comes with a little banner but I didn't use it for this one.  If you have questions, you can email me or leave it in the comment section.  Thanks for stopping by.

Springtime

Good morning!  I saw this card and stopped immediately and copied it.  I absolutely love how this turned out.  We have lived all over the southern USA over the last 30 years but my favorite place in Springtime was Big Stone Gap, Virginia.  We lived on a beautiful farm there and there were Dogwood trees everywhere.  In fact the main street there was lined with them and people drove there from everywhere just to look at the beautiful blooms.  I planted pink Dogwood trees all long our driveway.  So, that is what drew me to this stamp set, Easter Blossoms.  I also used the new embossing folder, Framed Tulips, available in the Occasions mini.  I used Pretty in Pink for the card base, Whisper White for the panel and stamped the image with Early Espresso onto Pretty and Pink.  I used my white gel pen to color in the blossoms, added a bow of white taffeta and some peals(Just noticed one of my pearls fell off before I photographed).  Hope you like it!

Take a Spin

It's hump day, a very busy day here. I am giving Shelby's room a makeover and it was a bit more than I thought , it has drastically cut into my craft time plus Dalton is in a quirky mood today . Luckily I had this card all made and ready for today. I used the new set, Take a Spin, and the little game spinner.  Card stock colors  are Real Red, Pacific Point, and Whisper White.  The DSP is from Celebrations.  Gotta go hold a baby boy, maybe a nap will do him some good!

Happy Birthday!

Good morning! Christmas break is over for the kids, it was back to school today. They seemed a bit excited, I think they missed their friends. I have another Sneak Peek today, this one uses Bring on the Cake, one of my favorites sets from the Occasions Mini. I have a class planned soon using this set. I also used the new cupcake punch for the tag on the treat box, it is so cute with the little cherry on top and the sprinkles. I used Candy Cane Christmas DSP with Baja Breeze and Real Red card stock and the new Baja Breeze seam binding ribbon. Hope you like it!

MOJO Monday

Good Monday afternoon! I have seriously lacking in MOJO lately so when that happens I try a sketch challenge and what better one than MOJO Monday.  I have been busy getting samples ready for my Sneak Peek Open House this week and have got several things ready but as much as I love the Nature Walk stamp set I have been having trouble thinking of how to use it.  The stamp set and the DSP, Botanical Gazette, remind me of when I was in college and took an Ornithology class and had to keep a field journal.  I really like this sketch and how the card turned out.  You can check out all the gorgeous cards using this sketch by clicking here.

It's All About Basketball

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!  I don't know where 2010 went, it passed by so quickly!  I don't usually make keep New Year's resolutions but here goes:  1. Devote more time to God and reading His word  2.Devote more time to fun family stuff(oh, this one is easy, some days all I get done is "playing" with the kids or that's what my husband says anyway) 3.  Get organized--if you could see my craft room right now you would say "she needs to get professional help"  4.  Start scrap booking again, I am only 7 years behind 5.  I am not going on a diet...ok maybe I will try to eat healthier  6.  I am not going to join the gym...well, my husband already bought a years membership for the family...I might try the treadmills. 7.  Spend more time doing housework crafting.  Glad that's out of the way!

It's time for another challenge at  the Papercubed(P3) blog, the theme for this month was sports.  My girls participate in swim team, soccer, and basketball, my husband is a fitness guru and an avid hiker(he is working on completing the Appalachian Trail...approx. 3000 miles..in segments of course), and me...well I am a spectator.  But, basketball is THE biggie around our house.  Shelby is on the middle school team as well as a travel team and Sadie plays church league and Toy(my husband, not a typo) is Sadie's coach.  All that being said, I knew my project would be about basketball,  I just didn't have a clue what to make until I saw this little paint can in the Christmas aisle at Walmart.  I had some paper that was textured like a basketball so I used it as a liner and used stickers to make a border around the top and for the lid.  I tied a ribbon on the handle and added some basketball beads.  The tag is an acrylic block with a sticker.  Very easy to make but I love how it turned out and will make a perfect gift container to give to a coach or a party favor.

Make sure you visit the P3 blog and see what the rest of the Design Team came up with, they are a VERY talented team.
